Nara, home to Mikasa Ryokan, is a historic place which is considered the birthplace of Japan. This important historic city was once called "Yamato".
Mikasa Ryokan is located on the slopes of Mt. Wakakusa, from where the whole of that city of Nara can be taken in at a glance.

【Nara -city】 Todai-ji
Todai-ji Temple is famous for its large statue of the Buddha, and is the best-known temple of the Nara period. The Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden structures in the world. Todai-ji Temple is located in Nara Park, which is home to wild deer which have been designated as a natural monument. Visitors get to see these adorable animals up close.
【Nara -city】 Koufuku-ji
Of all the seven great temples of Nara, Koufuku-ji Temple developed in closest connection with the city. Part of the current main hall building has survived since the Kamakura period, and within the vast precincts stand a five-story pagoda, museum of national treasures and more. The temple preserves large numbers of famous Buddhist carvings from the Tempyo and Kamakura periods.
【Kyoto -city】Kinkaku-ji
Nara, where Mikasa is located, is next door to Kyoto, which is an extremely popular sightseeing destination among visitors from overseas. When it comes to Kyoto, Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera Temples are particularly famous, but there are also other great sightseeing attractions, like the Arashiyama and Higashiyama areas.

For our main dinner menu, we serve a monthly special kaiseki-ryori. Please enjoy meals prepared using ingredients which colorfully change with the seasons.
Nabe cuisine is a form of Japanese cuisine several people sit around a nabe (hotpot) over a stove and "eat as they cook".
"Yagyu nabe", which uses Yamato pork prepared with miso, has been a popular nabe choice since we first opened for business.
Shochu (a Japanese spirit), local sake from Nara and other beverages are available to accompany your kaiseki-ryori.
We have two bathhouses: Tempyo no Yu and Komyo no Yu.
Both are artificial spas which use the mineral "komeiseki", known for its medical effects.

The design of Tempyo no Yu incorporates marble entasis columns, and the whole space brims with a mood which recreates the splendor of the Tempyo period.
The gentle komeiseki water of the large bath will untangle both body and mind. You can take a time out to savor the season in the open-air bath, admiring cherry blossoms in spring and colored leaves in fall.
The hot spring is not natural. It is an artificial hot spring which uses minerals.
